FAQ

1. What is krpano?
   krpano is a viewer for all kind of panoramic images.
   krpano is a Flashplayer application (the krpano.swf file).
   krpano can be used online embedded in a html webpage or offline as flash standalone application.
2. What are the krpano tools?
   The krpano tools are helper applications that help preparing the panoramic images for viewing.
   
   they can be used for:

   • transforming/converting spherical images to cubical ones (and back)
     (for post-processing, for better rendering performance/quality)
   • generating multiple resolutions (multi-resolution) of an image/pano and split it them into many small tiles (for faster and dynamic loading, this allows to view very large images without loading them completely, e.g. gigapixel pano/images)
   • protecting and encrypting your work, your files
   • generating Flash SWF, Windows EXE or Mac APP files with embedded files

   
   The most of the krpano tools are command-line/terminal applications, but there are some "Droplets" included that help using them. With the droplets you just need to move your image(s) via "drag and drop" on the droplet.
3. What is krpano NOT?
   krpano is not a panoramic stitcher!
   krpano is not a hosting service!
   
4. How to install krpano? Where is the install/setup exe?
   There is no install application. krpano doesn't need to be installed.
   The krpano Viewer (the krpano.swf) is a Flashplayer based application, it will be included in HTML pages, so copied it where you want/need it.
   The krpano Tools can be also extracted and used anywhere.
5. Are the Updates free?
   Yes, all updates of the krpano viewer and the krpano tools are free.
   When there is a new version, just download it on the downloads page.
