Quick Start Tutorial Tutorials

A quick start tutorial which shows how to build ready-to-use panos with the krpano Tools. Just follow the instructions here in this tutorial step by step.
1. Download the krpano Tools package for your system from the krpano Download page.
2. Extract the krpano Tools zip file and open the folder.
3. Optionally - if you already have krpano license files - then copy or move them into the krpano Tools folder now. If you don't have any one then just skip this step.
4.1. To build single panos - open a folder with your panoramic images, select one or all of them and move them together via "Drag and Drop" on one of the MAKE PANO droplets. 4.2. To build a virtual tour - open a folder with your panoramic virtual tour images, select all of them and move them together via "Drag and Drop" on one of the MAKE VTOUR droplets.

Here a short description of the most used MAKE ### droplets:
  • MAKE PANO (NORMAL) droplet
for typical fullscreen panos, the full pano will be loaded at once, the max. cubesize is limited to 2200 pixels by default (can be changed in the 'templates/normal.config' file), no skin - just the pano, HTML5 iPhone/iPad ready
  • MAKE PANO (MULTIRES) droplet
for tiled multi-resolution panos, no size/resolution limitation, fast and dynamic loading, default skin with buttons, HTML5 iPhone/iPad ready
  • MAKE PANO (FLAT) droplet
    for flat/2D panos/images, tiled multi-resolution, no size/resolution limitation, skin/control for flat panos/images, Flash only
  • MAKE PANO (SINGLESWF) droplet
generates just a single Flash swf file, for typical fullscreen panos, the full pano will be loaded at once, the max. cubesize is limited to 2200 pixels (can be changed in the 'templates/singleswf.config' file), default skin with buttons, Flash only
  • MAKE OBJECT droplet
for tiled multi-resolution object movies, drop all object images at once on it, no size/resolution limitation, fast and dynamic loading, object skin with buttons and object rotation control, Flash only
  • MAKE VTOUR (NORMAL) droplet / MAKE VTOUR (MULTIRES) droplet
for automatic building virtual tours, drop all pano images together on this droplet, vtour skin with an automatic thumbnail generation, HTML5 iPhone/iPad ready
5. After dropping the images on the droplet a dos / terminal window will open and there the kmakemultires tool (the tool behind all MAKE droplets) will process the images. If there were problems see the window for warning or error messages.
6.1. When the processing has finished close the dos / terminal window. In the folder of your source images there will be new files: typical a .html file - this is an example web page where the pano is embedded, a .swf file - this is the krpano Flash viewer, a .js file - this is the Javascript Flash to HTML embedding code (based on swfkrpano.js) and optionally the krpano HTML5/Javascript iPhone/iPad viewer, a .xml file - this is krpano xml file, there the pano and the skin are defined, and finally there is a .tiles folder - there are processed pano images located. The original images itself are not needed for the pano viewing. 6.2. When you have used a MAKE VTOUR droplet then these files will be located in the 'vtour' folder, and the pano images in the 'panos' folder inside there.
7. To view the generated panos either open the html file in the browser...
... or when you have the Standalone Flashplayer installed - then just double click the .swf file:
8. Optionally - to edit the pano settings open and edit the generated xml file in any text-editor (a text-editor with xml-syntax-highlighting may be helpful): Look up the krpano xml definitions here in the online documentation:
