stereo3d pano SBS 3DTV viewer display ratio issue

  • Hi Klaus,

I followed the stereo3D tutorial and did a SBS viewer on a 3D projector. Since the screen was splitted into 2, each of the window shows a viewport at the desired FOV. Although the splitted image was squeezed horizontally (when compared with the mono-vision QTVR, the door became narrower), but the 3D image seems became over stretched horizontally (fat) on 3DTV or projector, and it was not a natual look. The Rift version have no problem, but we want to put it on a 3D big screen to wow more auidence. Can we do something quick on krpano script to make the scene look more normal on the 3DTV? simply changing the FOV do not fix the issue.

btw, for the gyro control, it there a way to lock the roll factor? user enjoy changing the FOV by rotating their headset, but rolling the phone is not a pleasant expierence on the 3D screen. Thanks.

Here is the xml file I used:

This is the link for my stereo3d pano:

view the link on iphone then Airplay mirror to a 3D projector

This is what I saw when I see through the 3D glasses:

  • Hi,

in the SBS format for 3DTVs the both images have the half horizontal resolution (scaled down in horizontal direction). The TV itself will scale them later up to full width automatically.

That means when the screen resolution has a 16:9 aspect and the TV itself is also a 16:9 screen, the display will be correct.

    Best regards,
    Klaus

  • "if you want to change that scaling look into the html file for the viewer window size and the css scaling there."

Hi - I'm having the same issue (the aspect ratio of the two panos are squeezed) - we're presenting through safari on iPad (with a stereoscopic viewer) so the aspect ratio doesn't resize. In your note above, could you tell me more specifically what elements I need to change in the html to fix this? Sorry, I've tried a few options but can't get it to work.
    Thanks!

The SBS-TV examples/templates are for 3D-TVs or 3D-Beamers that are requiring a 3D-SBS-input. When in this mode, these devices will automatically scale-up the images horizontally to their correct size.

These examples are NOT intended for usage on mobile or tablet devices. Better use the 'mobile-vr' examples for such usage case.
