I'm looking to create a bespoke app to allow people to view tours offline on an iPad / iPhone. I'm wondering what the process is in creating a stand-alone app that can be downloaded from the app store.
Creating an stand-alone app for viewing tours offline on iPad.

I assume you've tried all the ones out there?
There are quite a few details that could be improved on the existing apps.
The Gyro is a big one. The two I've tried screw up the gyro in portrait.
The upload process could use a progress meter. Large zip files take a long time and no progress meter is scary. If you mean a singe app for a single tour.. I think that's probably the easiest type of app. I think people use something called phonegap.
I was referring to the generic offline document apps of goodreader/html books etc. -
Thanks for your response Sacha. I've not looked into them all, but as you mention, each has their own issues. I'll certainly look into phonegap as I think a dedicated app is what I need. Ideally it wouldn't be for a single tour, but as a general tool enabling viewing of tours offline.

Hi Tuur
Thanks for the tip, developing something with PhoneGap might be ideal for our needs, but we're keeping our options open.
