After a lot of effort we managed to embed a 3d object in a 360 panorama . Please tell us your opinion about the result.
Thanks

A great job! bravo! I think that many architects will be interested by this product !
Good job.
I am very interressed by learning how you manage so well to integrate the house in the panorama.
Let us know

This is something my former company is doing for years :) http://demo.drupsteen.com/portfolio/
hi guys,
will you share ho wyou did that? and wich software u use?
Thanx
Tuur
The main software used was blender3D. The cube faces of the panorama were UV mapped on the inside of a newly created cube inside blender. This is also known as a skybox.
Then the 3D model was placed inside this cube, and a virtual camera was instructed to take a 360 degree panorama of the 3D scene (there are a lot of python scripts on the net that help you do this with a virtual camera). A little image retouching after that was also necessary.
Take a look at the picture below.
There are a lot of different ways to achieve this kind of "hybrid" panoramas with blender3d, the above mentioned is one of them.
Zephyr, your former company is doing a great job, the virtual tour you linked to was awesome!
THANX!!
gonna study on that for a while..
cheers

GREAT!!!! ...
Thanx a lot. Need to learn this soft, ıt sound like amazing things could be achieved.

You should add some noise to the tiles around the house and fuzz them up a bit so that they better match the grass and sky.
You can also use the YafaRay raytracer with Blender 3D to do image based lighting with an HDRI light probe. I would really like to get Christian Bloch's SIBL smart image based lighting scripts and format working on Blender 3D while using YafaRay. It yields better lighting, but takes more compute power. They produce three images from your 360 pano.
1. a high resolution background as the background image.
2. a high resolution HDR image with specular highlights for reflections
3. a low res HDR image for diffuse environmental lighting
Yafaray raytracer ( global illumination, image base lighting )

Blender 3D ( No cost to you. Freely available, interface is different than other 3D programs )

I just purchased a Lightwave license to learn how to use SIBL in case I cannot figure out how to make SIBL work with Blender 3D and YafaRay.
We made some renderings using YAFARAY to showcase the HDRI capabilities here :
http://www.orbitlab.gr/hdri/gr.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the examples (unfortunately the explaining text is in greek).
The difficulty using Yafaray for panoramic extraction is that you can't use it like blenders internal renderer (keeping the settings for 360 capture) but it behaves like an external renderer (since version 0.1.1) and no options for panoramic capture are available yet. In the meantime we used Ambient Occlusion (with Blender Internal) to fake the HDRI effect.
Tip:
You might already know that blenders interface is a little tricky to learn so if you decide to start learning it have some patience until the announced version of blender 2.5 is available. They changed the hole interface and made it more user friendly.
Thanks for the example. I just had my Greek neighbors over for dinner. The brother Demetris who I went to school with w studied computer science is in Greece still. The other brother Alex mostly knows about music and would probably not be able to translate it well ; )
I read in a blender developers blog that he was delaying the implementation of the global illumination capable renderer in 2.5 until later. I was not aware that there are so many renderers that work with Blender. I ended up purchasing a copy of Lightwave 3D so that I could just use Bloch's SIBL loader scripts. I probably should have purchased the Autodesk Maya suite, but I wanted to get started now instead of saving forever to purchase those tools.
hi, i'm a beginner with blender and i have found this tutorial http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/blen…asic-uv-mapping that explain how to make an uv mapped object (a cube in the example). but the tutorial show only how to make this with the externals faces and i need to know how to do it with the internal faces (like in your example)
can anyone help me plz ?
I dont know about blender. But 3dsmax has a modifier that flips faces.
Found something on a forum:
QuoteSelect these faces you want to flip, then press the WKEY and in the popup select "Flip Normals".
BTW: You can check faces' orientation, when you go to Editing Buttons (F9) and there to the tab named "Mesh Tools 1", where you find the button "Draw Normals".If you are talking about flipping triangles, with two triangles selected press ctrl-f and the center edge will flip like in Max.
Alternatively to what FastEddy suggested you can also press ctrl-n to flip all the normals outward at once. (If you wanted them inward, you could then select all the faces, and follow the process over of using 'Flip Normals')
