Hotspot floating layer

Hi,

Recently I got a Nokia N900. One feature it has is what they call a panoramic desktop. You can move with your fingers from left to right like a neverending looping flat panorama. There is something I notice and adds to the experience. When you move for example to the right, you see the foreground moving faster (the icons) then the background. It adds a bigger sense of 3d space to the experience, like that the icons are 10meters infront of the panorama.

I wonder if this is possible to add an attribute to a hotspot (Called float or something) that when it's enabled, the hotspot doesnt remain static but moves with the panorama (like as if the panorama and hotspot are on a different sphere that slide across eachother). You create the feeling you can look around the hotspot.

Imagine a streetlight hotspot and when you move the panorama you can actually see behind the streetlight, because like in reallife the streetlight is close to you and thus moving faster to the side then the background does. I hope you got the idea.

Hi,

I understand, but in a pano that doesn't work because the camera doesn't move, it just rotates, always around the same point, so there will be no parallax...

best regards,
Klaus

well.. now it's a sphere but when you make it a rugbyball or a worm shape you maybe can move the nodal point a bit (suggestive) ??
maybe a balloon is an better example.. so the site's (sphere) is a bit flexible with a minor floating nodal point so u can get that feeling even more..
?

In this example: http://www.melbourne.com/

I do see some 'parallax' kinda effect. The hotspots float as it seems on a seperate layer. How is this achieved?

I believe they set set zoom="false" on those hotspots. I had that happen to a hotspot I created long ago and could not figure out why it floated out like that. Graydon pointed out the zoom feature to me. And now, if it is what you are looking for, I pass it on to you. *g*

Hi,

hover the blue hotspots and you will see an animation that draws a line,
there were the line ends there is the anchor point of the hotspot,

you can get a similar effect by settings the "ox" or "oy" values
for the hotspots, this shifts the hotspots image away from the
center anchor point,

e.g.

Quellcode

<hotspot ... oy="-50" ... />

Hi,
It looks like that the zoom false/true doesn't work for swf hotspots... am i right?
that can't be said generally, for a .swf it always depends how the swf was coded and organized...

best regards,
Klaus
