Newbie getting a blackout

My first few attemps with KRpano have been reasonably successful but last night and this morning all I am achieving is a black act in the coal cellar at midnight result. Due to my lack of knowledge or stupidity (possibly both) I cannot work out why or where to start. I have tried different resolutions/formats and still the same result.
Ideas will be gratefully received!

Try removing the question mark in the name of the file. then reuse the tool of your choice.
