The vanishing hotspot

A recent piece for desktop and iPad exhibits strange behavour. On desktop all is well:

But on iPad the hotspot only shows at the edge of the window. As one pans across it vanishes, only to reappear when one returns the pano to the original position.

Any suggestions welcome!

I would have thought you would have noticed something even stranger..
Your panorama pans and looks really weird, stretched out.
This "appears" to me that your panorama width is 200-300% of the window size but is floated right and contained within whatever div. But it should be a snug fit size to the div.

Thanks Sacha, i was aware of but cannot solve these problems (yet).
Time to take a serious look at css for the ipad. Any recommendations?

#krpanoDIV
{
...
width: 900px;

maybe take out the width here..

Oddly enough, if I futz with the percentage, 100 to 90 and back to 100, it looks ok.

Completely Futzed

Thanks Sacha I've tried every variation I can think of but as soon as the css is added (a new minimal version from Rob Glazebrook) the 'vanishings' occur. Here is a test without css

http://www.john-law.net/projects/vtour/tour.html

I've left both navigations in place and one can alternate between them.
and here is a version with the new simple css nav which REFUSES to show the pano on ipad

http://john-law.net/projects/newnav/index.html

Having looked at all the variables I can think of I'm at a loss so I'll look again at the 'thumb' method now that a horizontal layout has been devised by VN & Hans.
