Interactive 360 interior of a VW Beetle car

Hello there, this is a demonstration I created a while ago to show what could be done to show a car's interior in a 360 spherical pano. A friend o'mine lent her car to the cause and the shots were made actually in the forest near Mexico City. Because of the HDR of the scene, bracketing had to be done and the interior and exterior of the shot were processed apart. As you can see there are interactive areas in the car, you can turn it on/off, equally with the radio, open the "guantera" (I don't know how to say this in english) and sound the horn. It's just a demo but I think it's fine enough to share with the comunity. Comments and critics are greatly appreciated. ;-)

Fantastic job!
One bug.. after you turn off the car, the keys go alpha 0 instead of their default alpha.

Love it!

Heey, Thanx man!! About the bug, my idea with the keys was them to go invisible after you turn off the car, kinda simulating they were removed, and that they would appear again after you hover the mouse on their place, offering the option to turn it on again. Reading your comment I think it still needs some development there, cause maybe people can think the "turn the car on" option is gone after they press the keys. Need to think about it more. *g*

Cheers!

Yeah, that could be, I'm thinking also to just let there the keys, without altering it's alpha, that way they'll be there to turn on/off whenever users want.

Nice idea! I didn't find the keys the first time.
It doesn't look very real because the outside is as light as the inside. If you want to look it more real, you have to make the inside darker or the outside lighter.

I see, well I'm happy with the light level inside and outside, after all considering the local adaptation capacities of the human eye, it compensates light levels to match "perceived luminosity" both inside and outside scenarios. However I agree something's missing to give a more realistic touch to the scene, I think part of the issue is due to excessive saturation in the grass and trees, actually I have problems when adjusting green saturation, just recently I began to develop a more realistic touch. Anyway thanx for the comment, I'll consider it for future works experimenting more with the next HDR's to see if I can increase realism with more contrast between inside and outside areas of a pano. ;-)

Anyone else have any advice on how to increase realism? I'd love to hear some more opinions around this issue, I do think some realism is missing in the image but I don't quite grasp what's the matter. *huh*

Cheers!

Okey, finally fixed the key's issue, now they don't go completely transparent when car turns off, instead they remain in their place with a 0.5 alpha, getting solid as user hovers the mouse over them. Think it's more clear this way *g*

Check it!

Yes, that's better.

I still think a lighter 'outside' looks more natural. You can try enfuse instead of hdr the picture (or did you do that?). Looks more natural to me.

Thanx maaike! And I really really appreciate your tip about enfuse, I didn't know this option and it seems very powerful, certainly it's a MUST to try it!

Cheers!

Hi! Great work!
But the picture is not advertising, because of the bright sun, etc. You need to use the scattering material on the glass windows machine to soften the light, that would be enough for a delicious picture!
PS: I recently finished shooting for the autoshowroom (more than 12 vehicles), and a lot of interactive elements inside the car. The same idea was to make their animations are not directly in the panorama. But many of the elements would not have turned out to implement due to the fact that they are not in sight! Decided not to confuse the viewer and display all items in the pop-up window. I liked the idea of the implementation of ignition may try to implement, the more that individually photographed frames, backlit instrument onboard!

Hey there! your comments are appreciated. I agree about bright sun, the high dynamic range of the scene made really dificult to keep details both inside and outside and at the end the final look is acceptable but not enough for me, seems somehow unnatural. Instead of using a darkening material for the windows my choice was to expose for the interior and sub and overexpose two more shots 2 steps down and up which in the end was't enough. Right now I'm working a lot with some enfuse techniques that maaike suggested and they're throwing really good results, if I do something else in this sense I'll publish it here.

Cheers!
