Showtext on HTML5 please

Is there any chance that we will get showtext work for HTML5 soon.

I have some large projects to quote and there is a large difference making hotspot labels with showtext compared to pngs.
Just think of making 20 hotspot textlabels in pngs. It can easy ad 2 hours work for photoshop and coding.

In my opinion the showtext support for HTML5 is currently the most wanted function missing.

Textfield is not at all as fast and easy to apply.

Actually I am not at all interested in textfields. I found the usage I seen very ugly and I would at any time prefer making a png for large text popups.
I wondered many times before I started using KRpano why people use it also with Pano2VR.

However titles on hotspots or thumbs is another thing and the showtext option is very efficient and fast to implement for that.

showtext on html5!

I have to agree with Hans here. Showtext is a easy way to highlight a hotspot, it Should be functional in html5. While the typical use is not possible on a iOS device since there's no cursor or mouse event to "on...", that just means we need a new event perhaps a "close to" or "within range" much like, I think it was Micahel's beautifully done short xml set of, hot_spot_view_control or show hotspot in range code. It would be better if it was not dependent on onviewchange.

Cheers,

Robert

You should be able to make your own function with either a textfield or external call to a javascript function for a fancier tooltip attached to a plugin/hotspot ondown.
textfield containing content with spans with classes styled in your own css sheet would work pretty good. Just forget about textfields own html/css methods and do it manually.

Textfield as showtext replacement

Thanks Sacha,

I've started looking at the textfield plugin or hotspot, and I'm a little confused, probably very easy, but sometimes I can't see what is right in front of me :)

I would like to use the textfield as a simple replacement for onhover="showtext(bla,bla)" of an existing hotspot or plugin.

Would the simple approach of onhover=set textfield.alpha to 1 or something similar work? And I know that's not correct code. Just trying to figure out the basic approach.

Cheers,

Robert

Itc be like onhover="showtext2('this is a tooltip)"

<action name="showtext2">
add(myx,get(plugin[get(name)].x,10);

So you need the plugins x and y and add your off sets and use an argument to set the html

The html for the textfield like txtadd(myhtml,'<span class="tooltip">'',%1','</span>');
Setting visible true, alph 1 at the start. And or addplugin with a unique name based on the original plugins name when making the textfield.

Mostly wrong syntax, this is just an idea.

Textfield, ugh!

Thanks Sacha,

After playing around with the settings, options, etc of textfield, I have to say I'm very impressed by SHOWTEXT!

Much like Hans, I'm thinking I'm just going use alturl PNG's here instead of textfield. To simulate the quality of showtext in textfield is a way too much code for less results. As hard as I try to fine tune the options in textfield, it's just not as good as a simple style set applied to showtext.

Klaus, please consider bring showtext support to html or if thats not possible replacing textfield with something better.

Cheers,

Robert

I would much more appreciate a new or optimized textfield-plugin instead of showtext for html5. The textfield-plugin is capable of all these things (showing hotspot-texts on iphone/ipad for example), but the restrictions are very obvious too and it´s a lot of work to come up with usable workarounds to achieve all these functions.

So please, Klaus, consider instead to improve the textfield-plugin!

Best regards
Nupsi

Can you report the right source to view fixed showtext?

add(myx,get(plugin[get(name)].x,10);
add(myy,get(plugin[get(name)].y,10);
? ...
</action>
