Another question which came up is about the quality. On my old panos i did use these quality settings:

I´ve read your post where you say that special characters wont longer be auto-translated since 1.16, but is this only in flash? I use the following code inside a textfield (a little shortened and I put some spaces inside the special characters, otherwise the forum would translate them into << and >> ):

Hi,

and thanks for your reply. I did use Android-Firefox 21 and now installed FF22 and somehow it works a little better, but still not without problems. I.e. when I look around the whole interface disappears when reaching a specific vlookat. Then it stays invisible for a certain angle-amount (about 10 to 20°) and then reappears.
This a bug of the Android Firefox browser, but the next krpano release will include a tricky workaround that should avoid that for many cases.

These settings are still working, but make sure that you don't view the HTML5 version - there these settings don't have any effect...

krpano 1.16.4

Hi,

there is a new minor krpano release out:
krpano 1.16.4

It is mostly a bugfix-release but also includes several improvements for mobile/tablet support:
  • The new version of the krpano embedding script will now prefer HTML5 on mobiles and tablet when using the html5=auto setting. This way Android, BlackBerry and Windows touch devices will automatically use the HTML5 viewer, even when the Flashplayer is present. The HTML5 viewer typically offers better performance, better controlling (multi-touch) and better scaling.
  • For preferring Flash over HTML5, there is the new html5=fallback setting - with it, the HTML5 viewer will be only used as fallback when the Flashplayer is not available.
  • The scaling (stagescale) is now correct for several new released devices (e.g. Samsung Galaxy S4 and BlackBerry Q10 and Z10).
  • When using Android Firefox 22, the WebGL rendering will be preferred by default now. Mozilla has dramatically improved the WebGL performance in this Firefox version. Viewing panos with the new Android Firefox browser works really very well.
  • The full/real screen-resolution will be used for the WebGL-rendering on 'Hi-DPI' Android and BlackBerry devices now.

The 1.16.4 version was updated today (2013-06-05), in the version from yesterday (build 2013-06-04) there was small bug in the Flash version (krpano.swf) regarding the xml-parsing of <data> elements. This was fixed in the new build.

That means if you have downloaded the 1.16.4 version already on 2013-06-04, please download it again to get the fixed version.

Demo version in HTML5

Hi,

I updated a tour to 1.16.4. but when viewing using HTML5 the Demo Version watermark appears.
It's fine when viewing with Flash.

I do have all the licenses in the correct folders when using the Update Tool.

I used the Make VTOUR - Multires droplet to create the tour and updated tours previously from 1.0.8.14/15 to 1.16 with no issue viewing with flash or on mobile devices (iPad, iPhone etc)
I do notice when using the Update Tool I can only find the tour.js and the tour.swf files to update and there is no krpanoiphone.js file within the generated vtour folder to update but that's always been the case.
I also understand the license files should also be auto embedded when using the droplet.

Any idea where I may be going wrong?

Hi,

The krpanoiphone.js and it's license (the krpanoiphone.license.js) are embedded into the tour.js, that means these files are not needed or were not used in this case.
The krpano Update Tool will update the swfkrpano.js and krpanoiphone.js files that were embedded in the tour.js, but everything else in the tour.js (like an embedded license) will be left untouched.


Where can I download krpano 1.16.3 ? I can't find links.

You can take the download links from here:

and modify the version number, e.g. from 1164 to 1163, but I have to say there should be no changes in 1.16.4 that should break the working of that plugin.

Hi,

There is a new another minor update for krpano version 1.16 out:
krpano 1.16.5

The new release mainly adds support for Internet Explorer 11 but also includes several important bugfixes.
The most important new and changes are:
  • IE11 support - the new IE11 now supports WebGL, the HTML5 Fullscreen API, the Gyro (partially) and some other (mostly internally used) HTML5 features.
  • Several WebGL related fixes for mobile devices which have only limited/buggy WebGL support.
  • The enabled=false handling of children elements in the HTML5 viewer was improved and should work now like in the Flash version.

PS: Klaus, tell me please, I see now on Buy page of krpano site krpano HTML5 Add-On License — it's krpanoiphone.license.js same file?
UPDATE: I found the answer —
"The krpano HTML5 Viewer itself is the krpanoiphone.js file, and the license for it is the krpanoiphone.license.js file (don't get confused by the 'iphone' in the filenames, this has historical reasons, the viewer itself can be used on all devices). "

Bugs in Firefox v22?

Hi,

I experience some bugs with v 1.16.5 with Firefox v22, Chrome seems to work fine.

1. the pano resizing doesn't work correctly. The hotposts and other elements are resized according to the browser's size, but not the pano (black borders appear or isn't resized)
2. after leaving the fullscreen mode, the pano has a very weird projection

Are they known bugs?

I notice also scaling problem with the Bing map and v 1.16.5. Despites the map having a height and width of 100%, it stops rescaling past a certain height (seems to work for width). This is also visible in Chrome and Safari.

Is that related to this version? With 1.16.2 it works fine.

That sounds like more a Firefox WebGL problem (might be related to the graphics hardware and drivers...). On none of my systems such behavior is shown.

This is a problem related to the Bing Maps API itself (bug) - it happens sometimes and sometimes not, it might be necessary to restart the browser to get the problem away - I have already done a lot of analyses here, but I still don't know why this is happening - it seems to some strange bug inside the Bing Maps API code - and a fix or workaround on krpano side seems not possible here, but I'm already working on a replacement maps plugin that works completely without Bing Maps API.

About the versions, yes I'm certain this doesn't happen with v.1.16.2 and below. The same about the Bing map, I didn't experience the scaling problem with 1.16.2 and below. I wonder if it's really related to Bing map - maybe there is some scaling bugs in the API - but in my case, it happens when the pano isn't rescaling correctly and the map has the same size (and scaling issue) as the pano.

The system I'm using is Mac OSX 10.8.4 Intel i7 with Intel HD graphics 4000 512MB. The screen resolution is 2560x1440.

I can provide links (in private - current project for a client) with panos where the issues appear (1.16.5) and doesn't (1.16.2).

Edit:

After some more tests, the issues appear only in Firefox on Mac. Chrome displays also the Bing rescaling issue, but not the pano problem. Safari works fine. On Windows 8, IE10, Firefox and Chrome all resize correctly.

Maybe Firefox for Mac v22 has a very buggy WebGL implementation..

I have all the licenses in both folders and the update tool does not give me any error.

Flash shows no demo mark but on iPad and on HTML5 desktop the 16.5 version shows the KRPano Demo watermark.
