There's nothing special in that tour that KR can't handle. Have a look in the tour forum here and see plenty of examples like this.

I'll second / confirm that... everything in that sample is possible in krpano.

Just dive in and give things a try... ask the forum when you get stumped... we all do

I think we're still in the early development stage of krpano... where functions / capabilities take precedence... and that there will be a time when core capability development is slowed to allow usability features to catch up... and the audience will expand... but I'm purely guessing and am not talking for Klaus.

The photographer that doesn't know coding though is a user that intrigues me somewhat though... sometimes I think that it would be like a photographer that didn't understand printing... which I don't... I just play online

I see variations of this problem on many forums, especially those concerned with photography. I think advances in technology have made many photographers VERY uncomfortable.

First digital cameras give people instant feedback on technique - suddenly the years of technical experience are discounted. Then just standard photos all now seem to want post-processing - more computer skills. Then come demands that photographers also take video, maybe some audio, panoramas, and then know how to create online slideshows and embed in pages etc etc etc

Photographers who just want the old days of taking photos and nothing else are being squeezed out. The lesson, like many many occupations these days is that you must constantly adapt and move and learn new skills. I would much rather not have spent time on many 'boring' aspects of web management, but it's all part of the business.

But to answer the original question. No there is no easy front-end GUI, but I think in two days solid work anyone of fair intelligence can easily get a good grip on KrPano. After that it becomes fun - you can start tweaking and moving and exploring all sorts of different techniques. And this forum is a very friendly place full of helpful people - you will be OK !

so if any other krpano users have a userface control panel please post an example with the editor plugin activated that way everybody else can tweek each others code and generate new looks

what would the xml code be to create a tab like the one on the side for the MAP in the first example above?

This forum and Klaus's download packages are LOADED with examples. If you have any web knowledge, which I have just a little, you CAN view most other people's XML of their panos in the example section if you can follow the path. (for reference only. I don't advocate stealing another's work) A few are using krprotect, which is a good thing since those are usually the most creative people with original ideas (ideas they would like to keep original). I agree with Richard, a few days solid and Krpano makes sense. I still refer to this forum and the current documentation very often when I am trying to create something on my own, but I feel confident about krpano now. As for the documentation, as far as I can see, it is current with the official release. A beta is what it is. I am sure the documentation will be updated with the next official release too. This forum, which klaus constantly moniters and provides great feedback does a great job of supplying the necessary updates too.

Hi All,

My slant on the debate.

I am relatively new to KRpano, I say relatively because although I bought it 9 months ago I have given very little time in developing with it against a great deal of time honing my pano shooting skills, stitching etc.

I am a web developer for my job so I am comfortable with code, the opposite to you Rinks because I am weak on the design side, but I muddle through. In my company there are designers and developers working side by side and although there are often conflicts, it works a treat. I know XML very well and use it all the time along with JSON mainly for data transfer, but also to talk to APIs of other sofware.

The reason I mention the above is that I agree with Graydon, we are working with KRpano in its early stages and I truly feel it will become a web standard for panos at some point in the future. The beauty of being involved from the beginning is that you learn the hard way and I personally have found this to be the best way to learn. However frustrating it can be at times, you will still get the job done now, the hard way, and when a fancy interface gets developed then it can be used to speed things up, but I bet you most of us will still achieve things quicker by hand coding.
Being there from the ground up means that you will have the knowledge to fix something manually when the fancy GUI falls over, which they always do. People who have the core skills will find it much easier to get what they have in their mind into a working pano; a user who only learnt in an interface will always be limited by the capability of the inteface and will never think beyond it.

The upshot of my rant is that although things are new and there is no support outside of this forum and Klaus, if we plan to continue making panos and using KRpan then I believe we are privileged. You guys who do this for your job, if KRpano becomes the standard which I think it will then this will give you the edge over you competitors in time.

Again, in agreement with Graydon, novice users should just give it a try, XML is an easy to read language and is probably the simplest step into any coding. The help in this forum is fantastic, for the small amount of members involved it is brilliant that very few problems go unresolved, if they do it is a limitation of KRpano which normally leads to Klaus putting it down for a future upgrade. All credit to the guy he almost always gets it done sooner or later and always above our expectations (mine at least, distorted hotspots, case in point for me)!

I look forward to developing with KRpano and hope I can contribute something back to the forum as my skills progress.

I also agree that krpano will be the standard for pano tours,more and more people are talking about flash panotours,the topic that krpano users should be looking at is how can you create a long term income from creating tours,I feel this topic should be on top of all krpano users think list.

so dive into the examples and start tweeking and reading the forum,start with a simple pano and copy and paste the example code into it,I am sure some people will help in this forum if you get stuck.
