How does the autoalpha works

I try to implement a fade-in of an image when that image is opened with a hotspot. I unsuccessfully tried to find information about this option. Anyone have a link or advice on this one?

if autoalpha = true

when alpha > 0: visible = true automatically.
when alpha = 0: visible = false automatically.
