Fisheye/Little Planet not working in Safari with 1.17.4 (SOLVED)

I've just updated to KRPano 1.17.4, and I have found that in Safari (Mac, v7.0.4) I can't get Little Planet/Fisheye distortion projections to work: it doesn't distort correctly, behaving instead as if it was in iOS.

I notice that the only view options shown in the contextual menu are Normal View and Architectural View, which are the only items in the XML's contextual menu structure that don't include devices="flash|webgl". I tried removing this from the Little Planet item and reloading. That then appeared in the contextual menu, but the effect when it was selected still didn't include the expected distortion.

When I try the pano in Firefox (v.30) it works as desired. Additionally, when I build a pano with an earlier version of KRPano things work just fine in Safari, so it's something to do with Safari and the latest version of KRPano, in my setup.

I'm running Flash v14.0.0.145, and when I go to YouTube the videos load using Flash.

Any ideas? *blink*

Link?
Sounds like the html5 is being loaded instead. You can open the console to check.
See the documentation on embedding for html5 fallback

Hi,

that's because WebGL is disabled in current Safari versions by default (can be enabled via the Safari developer menu). The next Safari 8 in OX 10.10 will be the first Safari with WebGL enabled by default.

Without WebGL it's not possible to do fisheye/little-planet projections in HTML5.

If you want to prefer the usage of Flash, then use the html5=auto or html5=fallback settings in the html file.

Best regards,
Klaus

Thanks Sacha, thanks Klaus,

The problem is now SOLVED. :)

It was indeed because HTML5 was being used, which is fine by me. The HTML template used by the new KRPano build has HTML5="prefer", whereas the older build I was using before has HTML5="auto". I guess that meant that the older ones load Flash because WebGL wasn't enabled. Subtle little wrinkles!
I've now enabled WebGL, and I'll go tweak the HTML template so it says HTML5="auto" as well.

I'm still playing with things and refreshing my memory, but here's one of what I'm working on right now:

It's panoramas of Glastonbury's Arcadia stage, the maddest, most ambitious part of the entire festival. Only one uploaded at the moment but more are to come.

Klaus,

I see that the HTML template says html5:"[HTML5]"

What's the best (i.e. most elegant) way to make the output default to "auto" or "fallback" rather than "prefer"?

Hi,

simply replace '[HTML5]' with 'auto' - that would be okay and fine.

Or as alternative change the htmltemplate_html5 setting in the config files:

Yeah, it does! That's something I'm going to be working on for next year, along with shooting from places like the spider's articulated claws. :)

For a sense of what it was like take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPRvV6-LsTI
If you liked the panorama you MUST watch that!

Sweet! Take some video with your fisheye in portrait next time. It's not all that hard to embed that into krpano so its seamless.

Ahh, if only! I'm shooting with my D3x, so no video. But I'm planning on exploring this when I (eventually) get the D800. :)
