opposite colours in interface items

I saw a Krpano tour a while ago where the logo would take the opposite colour of the colour it was over.

It's the only way I know how to describe it.

I don't remember what the tour was but I came across this today and it's being used in the control bar.

Can someone tell me the name of this feature and how it can be done?
