Custom Menu Dissection Please?

I am fascinated with the menu in this tour...

I would love it if someone could point me in the right direction as to how I could create something like this

The top menu bar is one long image.



Each drop down menu is also an image.



Learning the basics of how this is done would really open up a tremendous amount of possibilities.

Is there any existing info on how to create an image based menu like this?

Would appreciate any help!

Why use images?
I think it is much more dynamical and lighter on loading when you use just code.

The menu bar has a cool roll-over effect between the above and below in the image.

There is also a cool effect on the drop down menu.

Meh, Trump Tour 404 for now...

Now drop-down menu plugin is available. It's allow to create such kind menu. 3 levels also. The decoration, alignment, appearance etc. are customizable.
