Long pause before video is visible in Safari

Hi, I have a 360 video pano, which works fine in browsers except Safari.

When I load the videos in Safari (mp4s, of course), the audio starts to play but there is a long delay before the picture shows - just a black screen.

The image eventually shows, but after a while. Could this be a buffering problem? Not sure why the audio would start playing before the video has buffered though?

Any ideas?
