How can you check layer's general alignment?

How can you check layer's general alignment?

Say I want to know if a layer is somewhere on the left side. Could be lefttop, left or leftbottom. Is there an easy way to check this? Brute force would five checks for all the variations: topleft, lefttop etc. A more elegant approach would be a substring search for "left" but I don't see how to do that in KRP. What is the best approach?

Brilliant! Exactly what I needed. Thanks.

I had searched for "substr" (as in other languages) and found nothing. Should have limited it to "sub" or "string" and cycled through the results until I found what I needed. Lesson learned.
