Displaying text in VR mode

Is there anyway to get text (either using showtext or textfield) to display when in VR mode in mobile? I notice that on mobile, the text appears when using textfield plugin but once I enter VR mode it doesn't display.

Currently only image and videos hotspots are supported in VR (because only these elements are rendered via WebGL yet).
