KRPANO + Oculus VR requirements

My client has purchased a Rift headset and now wants to show their virtual tour in VR using a laptop at the fair.(They don't want cardboard and insist on Rift) I'm aware of Rift's system requirements but do you need to have a powerful PC just to view the tour? I'd imagine not since we were fine with DK2 when it was the only thing available and it's just WebVR...

I'd love a confirmation before purchasing a laptop myself... Should a $700-$800 laptop be able to handle simple VR tour using Oculus Rift?

Thanks!

Yes, should be fine. Here's a good thread from last year dealing with the Rift. There are others as well:

Hi,

for krpano itself the hardware doesn't matter - it's the browser and the Oculus drivers that want or need something specific.

About 'laptop usage' - make sure that the Oculus could be connected! So far I know most laptops are not supported because of a not directly wired hdmi-output-port and too low graphics performance.

For Oculus Rift or HTC Vive WebVR usage basically just use the special WebVR builds of Chromium or Firefox.

Best regards,
Klaus

Neither the Google Pixel phones nor the Daydream headset are available here (Austria) yet...!
