What is the difference between plugin, layer and hotspot

Hello!

I read a documentation about krpano xml element. I am confused about differences between such elements like plugin, layer and hotspot.
Each of them can have an image as a background and I can link action for onclick event for all of them.
Thus, what are the most appropriate situations for using plugin, layer an hotspot?

By the way, plugin and layer even have a common description in the documentation.

Hi)

Plugins and layers are basically the same thing, no difference, as far as I know. Layers are areas on the screen, while hotspots are areas inside panorama.
