non static action scripting

Hello everybody,

I have a problem forming some xlm code within an action of this plugin. I changed the width of the entire side menu, but the animated sidemenu items did not follow the altered width by themselves. I got the problem solved by some static code and it works just fine. But I am eager to get it done with non static entries way down in the lines of code, and just the need to alter one variable in the top section of the sidemenu.xml.

My goal is to make the sliding menu entries just 20 pixels more narrow, than the entire menu width, since this is the needed space for the "onover" sliding effect.

Here is my static and primitive example:

<menu_settings background_width ="250"
...
/>
.
..
<action name="switch_menu">
...
set(plugin[%menu_0].width,230);
...
</action>

This way the sidemenu entries are 20 pixels more narrow. But I just want to change the background_width in the top entry and the action should subtract 20 pixels accordingly by itself. I tried various things, but never got it right. Any coding/syntax tips would be highly appreciated.

Here is my faulty code:

<action name="switch_menu">
...
set(plugin[%menu_0].width,sub(width,get(menu_settings.background_width);,20));
...
</action>

In plain math it should read: menu_0.width,230 = 250-20

Source code

1
set(plugin[%menu_0].width,calc(menu_settings.background_width -20));
should do the trick

Layer based SideMenu in VR doesn't make any sense as you can't activate menu with the + sign in the middle of the screen. It can be made visible and functional on touch even in VR but this is not use case anybody would use.
Another idea is to make it floating hotspots based but this request new implementation of SideMenu

SideMenu is updated and I want to share it with community. This version has animated buttons. It has thumbs and support multi language.

Online version is available: here
You can download package including code: here

As stated in side menu pluginsection it is free to be used.
Enjoy
But how to make level 3 in the menu? I write in the second level: link="switch_menu(3);" thumb_url="panos/0001.tiles/thumb.jpg" /> but he does not go into this group. Only 2 levels are supported in the menu?

Hello Umalo,

Can you give me advice on how to set the pro menu to start closed. In the free version I was abele to do it as it is explained in the forum, but in this pro version when I change:

background_x ="-200". It closes, but I need to click twice to start opening and closing properly.

If I change the line bellow to right it open but it does not close again.

<layer name="submenu_x".... onclick="switch_menu(0); slide_menu_right();" it opens but it do not close again?

I appreciate your help.

Thank You
Best

Can you give me advice on how to set the pro menu to start closed.

Find:

Source code

1
set(layer[gui_menu_background].visible,true);

and add slide_menu_left(); before you turn on menu visible:

Source code

1
2
slide_menu_left();
set(layer[gui_menu_background].visible,true);

One request

I´m already bought the commercial version, and it's very helpful!

I Have only one request: how can I do so that after clicking on an object / link the menu closes automatically?

Best regards!

I Have only one request: how can I do so that after clicking on an object / link the menu closes automatically?
Object in menu can be switch to upper/lower group so we can't have it closing menu on every click. Easy solution is to activate menu to be closed directly in side menu xml definition. After loadscene action you can add:

Source code

1
slide_menu_left();

Example of one menu item link:

Source code

1
link="loadscene(pano1_1,null,MERGE,BLEND(1));slide_menu_left();"

Action slide_menu_left is already defined within side menu code.
