device detection

hi there,

i wonder if you guys use device detection to disable features for older mobiles for example...
lets say for example to disable sound or videos for older mobiles for memory/performance reasons.

its not too hard to detect iphones < 6, but how about android and other mobiles...

what would be the be best approach to know which devices are older than 2-3 years

For Android you can check Android version.. when it's 4.0 it's quite old... step beyond 360

yeh... but on android the age of the os does not say that much about the performance of the device i guess...

it would be cool to have a device detection that outputs the rough age (year) of the device
i googled but didnt find anything like that
