Turning off stereo panorama feature dynamically on VR

Hello there,
I'm working in some VR features for a tour and I wonder if it's possible to turn off the stereo display of a stereo panorama dynamically. Example, I appear some hotspots in the VR field of view and I don't want them to "collide" with the pano existing elements in 3d so I turn this feature off while hotspots are there and turn it back again when they're vanished. Already tried setting image.stereo false but didn't work so I wonder if there's some other way.
