3dvista's transitions in Krpano?

Hello Klaus,

With the recent closing of Kolor/Panotour, one of the tools that gained visibility is 3dvista, which surely you've seen before. IMO this guys have managed over the years to create a decent platform with a very lean UI interface, on first sight this one looks pretty advanced but on second evaluation, there's nothing there that krpano can't do, it could even be krpano based, well, almost.

After a dedicate examination of their offer only thing I found that is beyond krpano capabilities are the transitions among panoramas they offer, you can see those at "arrow hotspots" (http://3dvista.com/samples/animated_panorama.html) and in their "Live pano" option (http://3dvista.com/samples/live_pano_ny.html) which blend two scenes in a very smooth continuous way beyond of krpanos graphical engine.

Some months ago I developed my own "Street View Arrows" hotspots, which include a displacement animation to add that "movement feeling" at user experience(http://www.imagen360.com/360/senda-rupestre-touch/ FullHD touch screen experience, so it may not look optimal but let's you see the example). In that case I tuned the most the animations to be as close as possible to Mr. Google's, and in the end I noticed that Krpano wouldn't provide me the same graphical experience as I concluded it's graphical engine is different (correct me if I'm wrong).

I don't know how hard it would be for us to have the same (or better) kind of transitions but certainly is something I'd like to see in a future version as it would add that extra "3d feeling" effect we're missing now. Matterport has a similar smooth transitions among their spheres which also creates this wow techy factor, I know their engine is completely different but it's another example in the field of "modern virtual tours" just to ilustrate my point.

Thanks!

i like your tour...

you dont click on a specific spot on the ground (where the camera was)
but you have these floating arrows showing if there is a hotspot in a direction
this way you can move around without turning if the spot is actually behind you

this navigation system is interesting...

Hey! thanks indexofrefraction, I like this nav system as well although idea wasn't mine, I just coded in krpano google's old "Street View" 3d arrow system, something like "Garrows" plugin but with the current 3d displacement anims.
If Krpano had a better transition system where it could overlay two panos simultaneously for a longer time, the quality of the effect would increase much more, which is what 3dvista already offers.
Let's see what Klaus says.
Best

Totally agree! It would greatly impove the immersiveness of an otherwise awesome and flexible viewer ;-)

By the way, this topic has been discussed earlier (here and here)

There will be something about that with the next krpano version ;-).

Hi,

Zitat

Is this feature by 3dvista availaible for Krpano yet?
That looks like simple cross-fading, or?
If yes, that's possible in various ways.

Best regards,
Klaus

Hi Klaus, Thanks for replying
I able to achieve the crossfading overtime, but the problem is that I unable to sync the pano during its transition into the next pano.

Im trying to use the slider blend cubes
https://krpano.com/releases/1.20.4/viewe…ubes/slider.xml

Rather then using the slider to fades between pano, I trying to make it auto transition overtime. With 6 different pano, is it possible? *g* *g*

Hi,

first make a tour using the MAKE VTOUR (MULTIRES) droplet with all the panos you want to blend,

and then edit the tour.xml and add these lines anywhere:

Quellcode

1
2
3
4
5
<action name="livepano" autorun="onstart">
    set(skin_settings.loadscene_flags, MERGE|KEEPVIEW|KEEPMOVING|PRELOAD);
    set(skin_settings.loadscene_blend_next, BLEND(2.0, linear) );
    setinterval('livepano', 5.0, skin_nextscene_loop(+1); );
</action>

That will change the scene every 5 seconds and keep the viewing movement during the blending.

Best regards,
Klaus

Hi Klaus,

The code work perfectly!

Also I tried to stop the livepano when clicking a button, I manage to stop it with this code:

<action name="livepanostop">
setinterval('livepano', skin_nextscene_break(); );
</action>

But when I tried to start the livepano back using a button, the transition will not keepview and keepmoving. instead it will immediate transition to another rather then having the same loadscene settings

<action name="livepano">
set(skin_settings.loadscene_flags, MERGE|KEEPVIEW|KEEPMOVING|PRELOAD);
set(skin_settings.loadscene_blend_next, BLEND(8.0, linear) );
setinterval('livepano', 10.0, skin_nextscene_loop(+1); );
</action>

Code for the button when click to start the livepano:

<layer name="lvlroofon"
onclick="set(autorotate.enabled, true); loadpanoscene(tourtl.xml, scene_pano1 ,null, MERGE|KEEPVIEW|KEEPMOVING|PRELOAD, BLEND(8.0, linear)); action(livepano);"/>

Code for the button when click to stop the livepano:

<layer name="lvlroofoff"
onclick="action(livepanostop); set(autorotate.enabled, false); loadpanoscene(tour.xml, scene_pano4, null, MERGE|KEEPVIEW,BLEND(1));"/>

What did I do wrong?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Nazreen
