no, krpano doesn't have any arbitrarily limits.
Your system scale is probably set to 200% (2250 x 2 = 4500), otherwise the desktop would be very probably much too small.
That means each 'browser pixel' is two physical pixels.
Check the 'device.pixelratio' variable to be sure
Or try changing the systems settings to 100% scale...
The rendering itself is done in the full resolution of course (unless the browser or system is applying some limitations).

i also use Microsoft Surface Studio, and no matter what browser i use, when krpano is displayed at full frame (i mean browser window cover all screen) then there is a big lack of performance.
When browser window is less than screen size, everything ok
How to deal with that?

for example in firefox, in small window or fullscreen you can perfectly turn around
in fullwindow it is extremely difficult!

besides, indexofrefraction code snippset fixes the bad behaviour
this snippet reduces the displayed pano resolution from @2x or more to @1x
this will greatly improve the performance (framerate) of devices with such screens
of course not as crisp, but thats better than a lagging display
