Hi,

i was wondering why it runs so smooth on my phone.
Can you share info on video settings for the different resolutions?
etc.
Are you doing anything special like preloading the video's or so?
Any other 'trick''?

Glad to hear such flattering feedback from you guys.

The camera we used is most of time Gopro Fusion and Insta One X (for one small dynamic scene).
Smooth playing on mobile was our technical goal. Therefore, we had to reduce quality. In an experimental way, we found these parameters: 1440x720, 2Mbit 2pass (or 3Mbit, depends on the duration of the video, file must nearly 40-60MB ) 12.5fps.
Desktop params: 2K, 5-7 Mbit 2pass 25fps (nearly 100MB total).

Great work bbm,

There are some good insights to be gained in 360 video production by observing how this works. Thanks so much for sharing.

I wonder how much better it might look at full resolution on a desktop. If internet speed was a concern you could give the user an option to change the resolution as in the 360 video example in the examples section.

Of course, we are worried about video resolution and internet speed. But another combobox or even a simple button for selecting quality can be too complicated for the user and overload the user interface. The idea is to use adaptive video delivery, as a YouTube player does. Our recent Boguchansky aluminum smelter project uses hls (HTTP Live Streaming) for non 360 video.
I think we will try this with the krpano videoplayer plugin and 360 video files next time. I am sure that this solution is much better than choosing quality using the user interface.
