firefox + krpano video = very bad?

Tested on a large number of different computers, there is one common problem.

360 video is very slow in the firefox browser. At the same time, it works great in other browsers (chrome, edge, even internet explorer). In firefox, it slows down even on very powerful PCs.

H264 or VP9 - it doesn't matter. It's about 4K (3840*1920).

Even 8K (7680*3840) plays perfectly in chrome, and even 3K (3072*1536) is very slow in firefox.

Is there any hope that the situation will improve?

Hi,

the webgl video performance depends to 99% on the browser, the system and also the video itself.
The krpanos viewer has no influence on that.

Internally inside a browser it's about how to bring the decoded video frame to a texture that can be used for the rendering. Some browsers are better optimized and have more and faster GPU-to-GPU code-paths and some require a slow GPU-to-CPU-to-GPU code path. It can also depends on the video and color format of a particular video what code path the browser can use, but that's not documented anywhere (except in the browser source code) and can anytime change.

For more detailed information you can search and read in the Firefox bug-tracker, here some related links:
