PanoCamAdder - Free Blender Addon

The PanoCamAdder is a small addon for Blender.
It is helpfull to create 3D models from equirectangular panoramas.

Download it for free from here:

der-mische.de/panocamadder

It creates a camera-setup, a pano-texture material and a world setup to see a desaturated panorama in the background.

That’s all…

But it is not needed more, to use 360° Panoramas as reference to create a 3D model.

I have done a screencast, while creating a "Dollhouse" from three panoramas. Hopefully KRpano suport it soon ;-)
Watch it on YouTube
Result on Sketchfab

Tutorials and example-blend-files coming soon!

question
does this replace existing pano blender addon?
Or is this a different one, to use together?

It is a different one..

The PanoBlenderAddon is good for Blender newbees. It is much easier to use!
You need only one click to prepare the models for KRpano. I have also found an easy way to create KRpano-Tours with it.

But there are also some limitations. For example, you can use only one camera per scene.
The operators work only with the objects, which are created while you click the start button. If you delete or rename this objects, nothing will work anymore.

The PanoCamAdder has less features for now, but more prospects if you are fit with Blender.
You can add multiple panoramas to your scene, which is very usefull to get accurate models.
But if you want to use the models for KRpano, you must prepare it manually (Tutorial coming soon).

So I would say, the PanoCamAdder is an additional addon for now.
But it is also a good startpoint for a better PanoBlenderAddon, that I am sure is going to come one day.

Happy blending! *g*

How to prepare the model(s) for KRPano

If you want to use the PanoCamAdder to create models as Depthmap for KRpano, you have to prepare the model, before exporting it as STL.

This is done in four, very quick steps!
  1. Set the origin to the camera position.
  2. Move the model to 0/0/0.
  3. Rotate the model (oposite panorama-rotation).
  4. Apply rotation and scale.

PanoramaTexture Baking

If you want to use a 3D model as „Dollhouse“ or something similar, you have to bake the panorama-texture.

This is done in two steps:

  • UV unwrapping
  • Texture baking

New tutorial here:

problem with MultiPanoTexture-Baking

Hi, Mischi,

Nowhere could I find an explanation of how a 3-D model is built for multiple panoramas
In the 1st screenshot, I have marked an object that I cannot create,
and, therefore, I cannot perform the required operations
the second screenshot shows my model from two panoramas

Ps
I've never worked with Blender before)

Thank you
Serge

Hi Taurus!
I'm not Mitschi, and also I'm beginer in Blender but I will try to help you. :-)

All must be in one object (like a 'MODEL' in the Mitsci's project).
You have two models, 'Plane' and 'Plane.001'. Try joints these objects in one.
In object mode select 'Plane', in modifier tab on AddModifier list choose 'boolean'. For object select 'Plane.001', and for Operation select 'Union' and click the 'Apply' button. At last delete 'Plane.001'.
Now you must have one object.
... or try create all from begining but as one object.

Hi Taurus!

They are different ways to join the models.

PanLUX has shown one way with a "boolean-operation". Thank you @PanLUX! *thumbup*

But in this case, it is easier to do it manually:

Select both models and press "STRG + J"

Done! ;-)

If you have some holes, try to fill them - or join some verticies (Select two verticies, right-click, choose "Merge Verticies").

Happy Blending! *smile*

Thank you both PanLUX and Mische!
The problem is this is my first time using Blender ...
What is "STRG+J"? Maybe "Ctrl+J"?

I'm afraid I'll have to wait for detailed video instructions) *cry*

That is not a problem. It is a great beginning! *thumbsup*

Yes I mean Ctrl+J

Dont be afraid! Just save your file with another filename before. Then you can't destroy it. *cool*

I am sorry but I do not see any free version on your website. Can you please remove your paywall asking how much people will pay for a free version in order to download and try it first.

Hi WMedia,

I've not tried to use the addon yet but after a quick look I see that you can just add a zero in the fair price field and then continue to download it. Looks a bit deceiving but the zero does work ;-)

Thanks a lot to you and @Mishe.

My mistake that I did not try to type ) as it was already there. When you type it you can download it. I will try the add on for sure. I am already learning Blender and it is not that hard considering how many tutorials available for it.
Sure it is huge in its functionality and for the add-on you will need to know only fraction of it. However after doing one simple example from the tutorial I am using I can understand better what @Mische is doing in his tutorials.
