Happy Halloween Beta1

This is our beta halloween project. original image was taken at 2 in the afternoon. added a floating ghost, lightning, candels and some extra stuff. we will be adding some more directional thunder and a few other extras over time I will also be incorporating the virtual tour we took of the inside of the bell tower over the weekend.

That is really cool. I have been wanting to do a project like this ever since I saw the German Halloween 360 pano with the integrated video. Did you use stock photos for some of the features such as the ghost and the skull? How did you draw and tween the lightning. Thanks for sharing this with us : )

I have to give my wife all the credit. I only created the tween and actions for the original image, the skull popping out and the sound. She did everything else in photoshop and flash cs4. She created the lighting in Flash CS4 and photoshop. I do not know how she did it even. I will ask her at home tonight. When i went to show someone the demo here at work it gave me an error downloading the mp3 files does anyone else ahve that problem? it might be the firewall here.

anyone click the whiteswirls in the entry way? i was hoping that would scare someone but i dont think it "pops" fast enough. this one is fun to create has alot of possibilites.

i reduced the size of the image from 10000x5000 which was 3.8mb of tiles to 4000x2000 which is only 870kb less than 1mb of tiles. The enitre package is 2.1mb with all the flash components.

I also installed firefox 3.5 and tested over the internet and it did not crash for me. if anyone who uses firefox sees this again please retest for me. thank you.

but a bit slow on older/slower computers, the image raining costs a lot of performance
but here some small tipps for optimizing:

1. remove in the html the wmode setting:

so.addParam("wmode","opaque");
the rendering can be slower with it

2. use either flash10 rendering, but without fisheye effect,
e.g. here a link with these settings:

3. or disable flash10 rendering and use lower details and use only LOW as move and still quality:
http://www.virtualnorthland.com/panos/ha…&view.camroll=0

the quality will be not so good in this case of course, but it will be much faster,
even on older/slower computers

a futher small optimization could be to use the latest 1.0.8 beta 9 pre-release with
the seperate snowing plugin:
krpano XMAS Edition - let it snow ;-)
