3d Models in Krpano like 3dVista?

Hello Klaus,

Hoping you're doing well, with the recent launch of 3DVista's 3dModel feature (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8Oc2EIs2d4) some days ago I wonder if there's any plans to incorporate this into future updates of Krpano beyond current three.js feature?

I love krpano much more over 3dvista but I don't see any smooth way to integrate 3d models / photogrammetry with panoramas or krpano structure. Some clever coders have shown me good examples of 3d model integration but still is more of an ingenious code gimmick than a native suport.

I haven't seen for example any way to embed hotspots into a 3d model point which could trigger some krpano actions like showing a menu or manipulating the model (E.g. opening car doors / turning on lights).

I know Krpano has been intended since the beginning for 360 photo/video and does it's job very well, I'd love it to count with a 3d extension in some point (huge application potential) so hope you're considering it, or if not would be good to know it won't come or will but not in the nearby future.

I really like the 3D aspect of krpano and the demo of 3DVista looks amazing as well.
The 3D features of 3DVista are now getting a lot of attention and they did a great job of creating a balanced tool that both is user friendly (no (or at least not a lot of) coding required) while still being able to pump out great results.
But the interface has its limitations and even if krpano may not (we don't know!) be able to provide the same level of 3D integration as 3DVista, the flexibility of krpano still is unparalleled in the 360 vtour world and I think because the focus of 3DVista seems to be shifting into 3D, it may be an opportunity for krpano to further establish the standard, because if it comes to 360 vtours, 3DVista is simply not on par with krpano. So it's up to us, the users, to create great virtual tours and let the world see what krpano is capable of, even today and hopefully even more with the next version!

Yes! The ability to render PBR materials in real time would be great!

Panorama as an environment for the reflections, plus a few lamps and a shadowcatcher - and we could already implement most of what is shown in the video.

  • More powerful functional support, can have a broader field of application. krpano can also be used by more developers.
  • Only when there are more developers can an ecosystem be established. krpano's community is likely to be more active.
  • For now, krpano has very few developers. The ecology is not yet established. Plugins and third-party support are scarce. Fewer users, fewer developers, fewer plugins sold, and fewer people spent time developing them. Most of the time, krpano developers build wheels over and over again.

Hi Guys,

I am developing an editor for loading and interacting with the 3D models inside the Krpano environment with Three.js
so far, I had good progress and everything go as I expect.
but I have a technical problem with syncing and aligning a 3D model with a scene's view!
please have a look at this video to understand what I mean:

does anybody have any idea about how we can do something similar? and how can I find the correct camera position and other parameters on Three.js?
