As a weekend project, I worked on a new concept called "Art Placer" plugin.

ArtPlacer allows you to take a 3D model and "decorate" it with digital art and photographs, all from within the krpano interface.

The plugin itself is not yet ready for release, but I did put a first version in the 3D Virtual Galleries that I have created in the past so if you are interested, you can have a play with the ArtPlacer plugin as a pre-release.

I also did an attempt to create a video (my first ever) with some reasoning on why this plugin was created and an introduction on how to use the plugin with the available 3D Virtual Galleries.

Thank you for your comments. I'm sorry for responding in English, German is not one of the languages I can express myself in. I hope you understand. I used google translate to get a feel for your questions.

1. Yes, updates to the galleries will be made available for free.
2. The models are pretty much fixed items in the template and cannot be changed. The scene itsellf (background or any other elements like the buttons, ...) can be altered to your liking.
3. I don't really understand the question, could you please explain a bit more in detail?
4. Video is something we want to support in the future. Text can be done by creating an image with transparent text and placing that in the gallery (see video where I do something like that). Maybe in the future we will provide some better support for text too.

And as for your last question: If you want to donate something, feel free to do so, but these templates, 3D models and the art placer that come with them are really for free.

What would be the greatest motivation for me is that the tours that have been created with these templates are shared here in the forums so everybody can see what can be achieved with them.

I will be adding some more galleries for those who want to create virtual galleries without having to model anything.

Here is the first one:



The gallery is based on this model from sketchfab and can hold 20 images on pre-positioned placeholders.
As the gallery is a bit more detailed than the previous galleries, I first used an 8K texture, but that was not visible in VR so a 4K texture was eventually used. The 8K texture is included too if you want more detail and don't care about VR. A future update would certainly be multiple textures for the different parts of the model, but we keep that one for another time.

I also do not know how they feel about it.
I do know that the model was released under a license that allows the use of the model in derivative work.



In the gallery, the author is credited and a link to the license is also provide so all requirements to comply to the license have been met.

But I do hope they are proud about the fact that their work has been used in other projects.

Hopefully, building the gallery goes well for you, make sure to share it here when it is complete!

Did you put the image in the /images directory?
Artplacer will fetch the filename, and then load the image from the /images/<filename> directory

You can also check the krpano console log, or the javascript error log for any failed images loading and see the path where they are loaded from.

Yeah, it's not a hosted solution. Idea is to download the template, put images in the /image directory, customize it using artplacer on a local webserver (or krpano built in webserver) and then upload the whole project to your own hosting solution.

I am considering a hosted option though, so maybe one day

In this new addition to the list of galleries that are supported by Artplacer, I have upgraded all navigation components to the latest version of krpano (1.21_20230430 at the time of writing).
- 3D Mouse Cursor
- VR
- Walking around

This allows for some new things, but most important, the ability to have multi-level floors for the galleries.

This gallery is a really big one and has multiple floors that you can wonder around.
