Videos won't play in HTML5

I'm noticing that videos won't play in HTML5. In the index file when html5:"prefer" is making the desktop browser to use html5 I receive the following error.

ERROR: video/video-name.mp4 - loading video failed!

This is using the multiple video formats. videourl="video/video-name.mp4|video/video-name.flv|video/video-name.webm|video/video-name.3gp"

I see the same error using the video hotspot example too. Running W7 with the latest Firefox, Chrome and IE browsers.

What's the secret to getting videos to play in html5???

Phil

Hi,

are you using the latest krpano version 1.17?

The latest Firefox browser and the latest Windows Chrome browser are reporting to the videoplayer plugin that they are supporting MP4 but in real the don't do.

For this reason the videoplayer.js plugin from the latest krpano version will prefer 'webm' by default (when 'webm' support was reported from the browser). The webm format is typically working fine in both browsers.

The online example here should work in all browsers:

Best regards,
Klaus

I have some video issues with Internet Explorer 11. I have these formats... Mp4 & OGV. The video plays in all browsers except IE11.
I tried the video file of the online example (M4V) format and this one works. Then I converted my own video file (MP4 format) with an online converter to M4V, without result. the video doesn't play in IE.

Klaus, may I ask what program you used to convert the Video files in the example? I tried Miro but M4V is not supported.

Tnx for help,
Yvan

vrTourSoft has a built-in video converter.
The program will prepare the necessary file formats and embed the code in your tour.xml
You can set the show of the ready video by clicking on the hotspot, layer, menu item, etc. just by selecting a video from the list.
Read more here https://www.vrtoursoft.com/editors/video.html
P.S. Usage of m4a is not necessary for modern Mac OS
