Licensing issue 1.17 Linux

Hi

I have just been passed the new combined license information and am trying to enter it into the krpanotool utility (on a Linux command line/shell) using:
krpanotools register CODE
where CODE is the 260 character license key. However, it is just reporting:
ERROR: Registering code failed!

I have also tried using the following:
krpanotools register <license.txt
with the key pasted into the license.txt file.

It seems that the notes at:
http://krpano.com/buy/howtoregister/
don't apply to using a shell. The server I am using doesn't have a GUI so it's command line or nothing!

Can anyone help?
