Big interactive City Tour with GigaPano, sound, different atmospheres etc.

Hi there,
now I want to show you my biggest project so far. I have done it for my graduation for study to a media designer and it´s a big interactive panorama tour through Feldkirch, a dark age city in Austria.

It has included 3D directional sound as long as information texts about historical buildings. The tour starts with a GigaPixelPano. If you are in the normal panorama-view, then go to the "Marktgasse" and see the different city-atmospheres like the nightshots.

So please have a look at it and post me your comments, critics or suggestions ;-)

Hi,
after different feedbacks I´ve changed the mouse-mode in the gigapano, so that it behaves like in google earth. Also the gigapano starts fully zoomed in and then automatically zooms out to the full panorama. So that people, who don´t know this type of panorama see what a gigapano is about.

Great integrations of large partial, 360s, and directional sound

As I said when I saw this on the Autopano forum Gallery, this is an excellent example of integrating a large partial panorama with 360 degree panoramas, and directional sound. The recent development of Krpano has made this possible. I am aware of the effort that is required to accomplish these tours. Thanks for posting this and I will look forward to more work from you in the future.

Which device do you use to acquire sound? I have used a Zoom H2 in the past, but I had to return it for repair due to the membrane keys not functioning. The new H4 has better keys and there is a Roland device that has a limiter for acquiring sound at music events.

Hi,
thanks for your feedback! :)

For sound I used a "Marantz PMD 671" and on the one hand an omnidirectional microphone for the sound atmosphere and a Supercardioid for the noises, which I presented as 3D Sound.

today, there was a report about Feldkirch360 in the big austrian daily news "derStandard".
Here´s the original link to the online-version (german):

http://derstandard.at/fs/1246543963822/S…-fuer-Feldkirch

Here is the english text (translated with google):

One sentence about the novelty of city-panorama tours is a bit wrong. I meant that I don´t know a similar tour with combined gigapano and normal 360° panos. Because I know, that there are lots of beautiful city-tours, also here in the board :)

Regards,
Marc

Hi!

What a wonderful starting image for the tour! You've really done the sound and layout correctly. I'm very inspired.

I noticed one problem - when your tour is loading a new panorama and I interrupt it, I get the "action not found (loadingdone)" error. Do you get it too?

Great tour.

I also get the error when clicking to move around before the next pano has loaded. Might look at how you call the next pano to see if you need to block the user control / input...

It should work now!
