Maxcubesize for iPad

Hello all!

I'm trying to increase my panorama quality for tablets.
I have changed maccubesize in normal.config from 2048 to 3072.
This panorama works perfectly on Android and Mac, but doesn't work on iPad.

What macsubesize is suitable for iPad?

Hi,

single cubeface images with a size of 3072x3072px are way too large for iOS!

Use multires for such large images, then there will be no size limitation at all.

Best regards,
Klaus

Klaus, i can't use multires due file size limitations.
What maxcubesize would be suitable for iOS?

Hi,

What maxcubesize would be suitable for iOS?
That depends on the device and the iOS version.

Using 1024px should be safe for all devices, but for newer devices you could also use larger ones.

But when using larger sizes, keep also an eye to the display.hardwarelimit setting (and modify it when necessary):

Klaus

H!

I was using Pano2VR with cube size = 3000px, and it was running fine on iPad. When i'm trying to do the same in krpano by entering the same maxcubesize, it doesn't work.

If you used 3000 for the iPad the iPad is probably resizing the cubefaces to 1024.

it doesn't work.
What exactly means doesn't work in your case?
And have you also adjusted the hardwarelimit setting?

I'm using Adobe DPS.

It has it's own way to create panoramas from 6 jpg pictures.

I prepare jpg in pano2vr, they are 3000px wide, and they look sharp.

I can use krpano too, as html overlay. I'm using it for interactive hotspots.

In this case, i can use krpano only with 2048px pics.
Safari on iPad won't show krpano with bigger pics too.

Hi,

can you please post a link to your example?

With the right settings, directly using 3000px cube faces as they are should be possible.

But - why even trying to use such large images directly?
There would be no benefit - slower loading, way more instable Safari - especially on older iOS versions or older iOS devices.
There is 'multi-resolution' available to avoid such problems.

Best regards,
Klaus

Thats a completelly different case. The viewer is not HTML based in apps.
For this the max size I always delivered to the digital magazines or apps is 2048 pixels cubefaces.

However one of the app creators told me they did not use more than 1600 because they crashed with larger.

In this tutorial for the Digital Conten Viewer 1048 pixels is recomended.
