I made a droplet file for generating rectangular thumbnails instead of square.
You can choose by square thumb or rectangular thumb during the course of generating vtour.
And you can modify my batch file for MULTIRES droplet.
If you choose rectangular thumbnail, you must modify skin_settings thumbs options of tour.xml file like this:
thumbs_width="120" thumbs_height="80" thumbs_padding="10" thumbs_crop="0|40|240|160" to
thumbs_width="140" thumbs_height="70" thumbs_padding="10" thumbs_crop="0|0|140|70"
