another gear vr beginner

  • hi all. so i've been researching creating 3d renders in stereo, to be used in samsung's gear vr on a samsung phone. i do not currently own these as i'm researching before the outlay of cash.

sounds like the process is to
    1. use domemaster shaders to render out two spherical equirectangular images (one left eye, one right eye).
    2. take those jpg's and run them through krpano tools 'spherical to cube' converter
    3. open the images in photoshop and arrange/rotate them to follow gear vr's standards
    4. take those images (one left/one right) and put them on the phone, in a 360photos folder created somewhere in the oculus directory
    5. load up the oculus software/gear vr and navigate to that folder and launch them.

is that about the gist of it?

    thanks,

EDIT: to be clear, i'm rendering a still frame stereoscopic. so no video. the left/right eye images are spherical 360 panoramic. thanks.
