Is it possible to have the mobilevr_wakelock function outside mobilevr?

I'm working on an application that would benefit from not letting the user device go off during an unattended automatic presentation.
mobilevr_wakelock does the job, but only... if webVR is running, and this would not be the case. Any idea?
