IPad bad behavior in IOS10

  • After the last updates in IOS10 all my tours behaves very bad in Safari. I just updated to last version without any change.

Blinking and jumping when zooming and panning.

I still have not updated my iphone 6
It has IOS 9.3.5 and it works perfect.

The weird thing is that if you save the tour as a homescreen button and open from it everything works fine.

  • I have now also tested other browsers.

Both Chrome and Firefox has the same bad behavior as Safari. Jumping hotspots and bad jumpy panning and zooming.

Atomic Web and Dolphin has perfect behavior. Very smooth and the hotspots are fixed.

Also the same tours which I have as iBooks behaves perfect.

    This is really irritating

Here is my latest tour for testing but all my tours since 5 years are now completely unacceptabel on iPad unless you use one of the alternative browsers.

Also a simple gallery without any hotspots is bad http://360-foto.dk/gallery/ Especially changing panorama is here very ugly. The normal smooth change is gone.
This gallery is a new gallery made with 1.18.5 View it from an homescreen button and all is fine.

And this is not just KRpano. I assume that Roundme has its own viewer.

This one has exactly same problems https://roundme.com/tour/92459/view/235088/

  • Hi,

that's an iOS 10 bug related to WebGL usage.

In iOS10 Apple has added the previously not-supported WebGL 'antialias' setting, but implemented it badly and buggy.

Just use the latest krpano version, there the this WebGL setting is automatically disabled for iOS.

About 'Jumping hotspots' - in krpano 1.19 image- and video-hotspots (and soon also text and polygonal hotspots) are rendered by WebGL instead of CSS3D. That means the same technology will be used for the pano rendering and the hotspot rendering and so there can be no uncontrolled and browser-related unsynchronicity anymore.

Roundme uses the krpano viewer but with an older version (1.18.6). They can't upgrade because their domain has been blocked in the newer version because they are violating the license agreement.

    Best regards,
    Klaus
