Krpanotools -> makepano -> Greyscale equis not processing

I'm running Krpanotools -> makepano server side and calling the action via Python scripting.
When I feed a Greyscale equi into the system the tiles and the .xml are not created.
If I convert the equi to RGB and resubmit the tiles and the .xml are created.
Is this expected? Is there an option I can include so that greyscale equis are handled?

Hi,

sorry, but grayscale images are not supported by the tools.
