Distorted Video Hotspot On Apple-Devices

  • Hi.

I've tried a lot but at this point I need some help from the communtiy...

    http://data.kuck.info/stanton/tour.html
It is about pano number 4 (use thumb navigation)
and a distorted video hotspot from an organ-player.

Everything is fine on win and android.
    Only a bad webgl-fps-performance on android+firefox.
But this is like it is at the moment.

On the apple-side right now it is a lot more complicated.
    I've provided in addition to the webm-file (1920x1920) a mp4-file (h.264/1080x1080).
I had to reduce the file dimensions to get it work on the the ipad.
    Ipad ... now working.
Macbook + Firefox ...also working.... with a very good fps-performance.

Macbook + Safari ... NOT WORKING.
The video-hotspot is not correctly fitted in to the pano.
It looks like Safari is ignoring the aspect-ratio (1:1) and displays it in 16:9.
I've tried width and height inside the hotspot but with no effect.
I have no apple-devices of my own. So all these are infos from a friend.
What could be a solution for this problem?

I have read in the forum that the videoposter should have the same dimension like the video.
But now I have to provide a smaller version for apple-mobile and I don't want to reduce the webm-dimension. Does this lead to any conflict?

Thanks a lot for your time ...
    best regards...
    Christian

  • I figured it out myself...

It was a coding-problem with the mainconcept h.264-codec in sorenson squeeze.
Any other h264 codec besides that does not produce the wrong aspect-ratio in playback.

What I did not get by now is...
what kind of pixel-size the videoposter should have when I have to videos (webm and mp4)
    with different dimensions (1920x1920 and 1080x1080) ?
