if the panorama was projected on a sphere that problem wouldn't occur
That's not correct, a sphere would be even more worse. You could test that by using a <sphere> image.

To avoid too strong distortions the geometry behind the pano-image should match roughly the content when moving out of the pano-projection center.

I'm already planing to add a depth-map support for distorting the pano-sphere-geometry, but then the main problem will be how to generate that depth-map...

Best regards,
Klaus

That's great !! will we need ro use the three.js implementation, or it will be out of the box with krpano ?
I guess you are thinking of loading a super simple mesh, not a cloud mesh with tons of points.

the main problem will be how to generate that depth-map

I have an idea for that point, which I'm already working in.

krpano of course!

Using the depthmap as geometry displacement.

Ah, ok, now I get what you mean!

I though you wanted to literally add a geometry mesh.

So we will have an extra image of the pano, just like this one :

I ask to my self, once we have this, wouldn't it be great to get that info in order to use it for webvr, so a monoscopic panorama can have depth ? same for video I guess ?

That seems to be one small step for klaus, one giant leap for krpano developers

I was playing a bit, and get quite funny what i meant.
Sloppy hardcoded example:http://www.virtualtuur.com/krpano/shift_view/test_example/

The logo click has two states/paths.

Let me sleep on that a bit...
Would be great with some proper math and three.js hotspots of course.

The hotspot 'fixed' position effect i quite like, also for transitions i guess...

Anybody jump in?

Cool. It would be interesting to see with a texture.
translation difficulties *huh*

yeah i think so too ... i make one.
I also made a mistake in the example..
I had hopes on: callwith(view, tween(tx|etc etc
I thought that worked too ... it was end of the day ;-/

EDIT: I changed the example.. Now it is as i like.
3 buttons with different paths (right bottom)

Next step.. with texture

EDIT:
With texture

haha...

now try with paused video 'sphere'....

EDIT:
with paused video to use the 'sphere' ...

EDIT:
Some transition experiment

Hi all,

I'm trying to replicate Sergey's transition, which is based on hotspots, to a scene based transition. This is what I have now:
https://virtuele-tours.nl/tour/transition/ (XML).

It works, but there's a slight hiccup when loadscene() kicks in. This breaks the smoothness of the transition.

Any ideas to solve this? I tried various tween speeds, blend speeds, blend types, but I can't find the perfect mix...

hi klaus, is this coming?
as i mostly render my panoramas with 3d apps,
generating depth maps would be no problem at all for me :)

Hi,

As an aside I have tried creating "dolls house" models a.k.a. Matterport - using photogrammetry tools - namely demos of Agisoft Photoscan Pro, Pix4DMapper, 3DF Zephyr + one other which I cannot remember. Never had much success though.

Anyone care to share their experience?

You may have also noticed Matterport now offers the ability to publish on their service with only a Theta V or InstaOne type camera (besides this issue of buying in to the MP platform). Also GeoCV have a smartphone based rotator/lens addon that does something similar to MPort.

The GTransition plugin with GArrows is the best effort yet which is very interesting. Good work!

Thanks
GK
