[krpano 1.19-pr16] - Fullscreen / Big Viewer Performance

Hey there,
I wanted to ask if there are possibilities to tweak the Fullscreen/big Viewer DIV Performance of krpano ... ?

When viewing my Panos in big Viewer DIVs, or Fullscreen - my whole PC get's very slow, sometimes unresponsive for some Seconds ... fluent viewing around in the Pano is impossible.
Since I'm on a fast Workstation (64GB Memory, Intel i7 CPU, GeForce GTX 1050, SSD, ...) I don't want to imagine how slower PCs perform here ... :-/
Task Manager showing 100% GPU Usage when it's getting slow - When I resize Viewer to about 50%-60% of my Screen Size - it's all working fluently again ... (Dual Screens, 2560x1440)

Is there anything I can do? Or is it maybe some failure within my krpano Config?

Example: http://www.rundblick.at.ex.ortsinfo.at/t…/v1/?panoid=301

Hope someone can help me on that! ;-)

thx, bye from Austria

Hi,

that shouldn't be krpano related and indicates more a general problem with the system...

Best regards,
Klaus

weird - everything else is working as expected ... also latest nvidia drivers are installed ... had the same issue on my Workstation at home (HPE z420) and other HPE z240 here in the Office ...
No idea what could trigger those massive slowdowns then ... :-(

What makes it even more suspect - when I view the same Image in the same Browser within Panono (which uses krpano 1.18) - it's working smooth ... so I still suspect some Problem within my XMLs or my Tiles or *don't know where*

krpano 1.18 - smooth lookaround: https://cloud.panono.com/p/qXdbPVGlqpwO/album/YdUhiKelywCc
krpano 1.19 - very slow lookaround: http://www.rundblick.at.ex.ortsinfo.at/t…/v1/?panoid=301

Any ideas on that? ;-)

Hi)

Your Krpano 1.19 link is viewed quite fast here on my PC. No lags or jittering, as far as I can see.
Regards,

Alexey

What's strange in your screenshot is the GPU memory usage - it's full / on the limit - but that's shouldn't be caused by krpano.
So maybe your GPU is constantly swapping memory in and out that this makes it slow.

Maybe try to find out why the GPU memory usage is that high on your system...

good catch - will have a look into this ... seems like dwm.exe + RDP already consume 1GB of GFX Memory ... then some Firefox/Chrome Windows ... and 2GB are full ... *sigh*

But what "still" puzzles me - why is the Panono krpano Player running fluently while my implementation lags like hell - at the same time?!?
What are they doing better than I with their player?

The only related difference I see is that they are using the setting multiresthreshold="-0.33".
This sets the viewer to select a lower-res multires-level related to the current zoom.

When you compare both links, you see the Panono is more blur / lower-res.

And lower-res also means fewer memory-need of course - the panono example is probably slightly below your GPU memory limit and the other one slightly beyond.

But the more important question is - why is the GPU memory-need so high, and why does the GPU get so slow when hitting that limit. A lot of GPU memory must constantly and explicitly locked or something like that...

seems reasonable ... ;-)

Good Question ... wouldn't be a bad GFX ... it's an ASUS EX-GTX1050 OC ... should be faster than ~90% of our Customers who look at the Panos ... :-/

The GPU itself is way more than fast enough ;-)

You can also try to reduce the memory need of krpano by setting the memory.maxmem setting, then krpano would store fewer tiles in memory. A fixed setting of just 150mb should also work for desktop, but then krpano would more often need to reload the tiles during viewing.

But as this should be more a system specific problem, I wouldn't recommend general changes here...
