• Hi Klaus,

I'm trying to use a video with an alpha channel for transparency. I have looked through the documentation and forums and see that the only On2 VP6 will work but unfortunately, that is a deprecated format and I can’t find any easy way to create a video in that format.

It is reasonably easy to create a Webm video with an alpha channel but as you know the videoplayer.js doesn’t support the alpha channel. I used FFMpeg to convert a series of PNG's.

On top of that, I am not sure if an HTML 5 KRPano would playback a file encoded with VP6 even if I managed to get something encoded to that format. Any thoughts on whether or not VP6 would play using the SWF video player within an HTML 5 environment?

So my next question… Is it possible to use another java video player with a distorted hotspot? I made a very crude attempt at trying to use the video player (main.js) at the bottom of this post in KRPano but of course, it failed. He does have his code on GitHub but that is way way way over my head.

    Thanks for reading this far.

  • Regarding encoding to VP6...

Adobe Media Encoder no longer supports it.
    Sorenson Squeeze is dead.
Google bought and shut down On2.
    Encoder.com failed.

People say they have done it with MEncoder or Virtual Dub but I didn't have luck with either of those.

  • Hello,
media encoder only supports V8 and v9 codecs.
i have the same problem. I tried it with quicktime Proress 4444 alpha chanel or webm v9. krpano can't play any of them. does not show.
most importantly webm. because the file size is very precious.
I hope a solution to this will be found.
    best!
