Warning!! Don't sell your plugins using Share-it // MyCommerce // digitalriver

Hi,

for years i sell my plugins by share-it. They take their share and it worked sort of fine for me.
I invested to connect our api to theirs etc..
Now suddenly i get this statement from them after i asked for confirmation of their first email where they started kicking me out.

**
Hello,

Thank you for your response. We understand your concerns and apologize if this notification came as a surprise. You have been a long-standing, valued customer of MyCommerce, and we can assure you that this was not a decision we made lightly.

Unfortunately, the reality is that operational and payment processing costs have increased over the last few years. To this point, we have done everything we could to absorb these costs and not pass them along to our customers. At this time, however, we can unfortunately no longer continue to provide services to clients below a minimum threshold.

Our reporting shows your business has generated revenue below our limit of 6,000 USD gross per year. If you feel this calculation is a mistake, or you believe your sales will be picking up soon, please reply with your revenue forecast for the next 12 months.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you.

Regards,
Eric Petersen
Your MyCommerce -ShareIt! Team

So be warned!!!
DON'T USE SHARE-IT //MYCOMMERCE to sell your plugins if you sell less then $6000,- gross.. and run away as quickly as you can.. they can't be trusted.

Hi,

I have no experience with other services, but Gumroad or Mollie could work just fine. Paypal perhaps?

Not recommended *attention*

Many buyers have made refunds to me even 3 months after purchase *attention*
PayPal only for purchases, never for sales.... This is my opinion.

Sorry Tuur, but I can't do that. *unsure*
I only have their emails used during purchase proces, not the krpano forum usernames.

Hey! I was invoicing Vietnam via Payoneer for 2 plugins. So, I sent the plugins, but after a while the money was withdrawn from Payoneer and a letter came - "The dispute on this transaction was initiated through the sender's bank, unfortunately, we cannot stop the refund."
This is the buyer's address game.origin1101@gmail.com.
He won't answer my questions

Hi,

Perhaps we should set up our own krpano plugin selling point or so.
The biggest problem is to safely collect the money, and make that only the seller/producer of the plugin can decide for a refund.

isn't there already a platform that is specialised in this stuff?
Selling software, no refunds?

Unfortunately, this will not work. Customers would use their own deposit methods anyway. By the law, the customer has 14 days to return it anyway. After this time the return is normally not possible, except for PayPal, Payoneer and etc.

I think the first step is to exclude in the store the blockade of collecting deposits when purchasing from these payment systems, or implement an online licensing system so that you can lock down a plugin at any time.

kind regards

Can you explain how online licensing can be protected? How does it work?

You could make an api..
Send user krpano license name, or
an 'apikey' to database/script..check if he is allowed to use.. if not .. send back 'variable' and give error or open other website..
Something like that.
