iOS15 Fullscreen Mode and Inline Video not working

With iOS 15 came a new tab-mode and now the fullscreen mode doesn't work "again". The "Swipe up"-pop up worked perfect until now, but now it's not possible to bring krpano back in FS-mode on iPhones :-( Sometimes it's possible to switch to FS-Mode by rotating the device a couple of times or reloading the tour.
(Latest krpano-release)

UPDATE
It seems also impossible to add a video-layer to a scene with iOS 15. Video-Hotspots still working but layer-videos are invisible. They´re still there and playing, but just not visible. And I doubt that it´s a local problem because the video-example on krpano.com is´nt working either *sad*

Thx in advance,
Nupsi

Hi,

that's unfortunately the problem with this kind of fullscreen mode - there is no real support from the iPhone, so this is a browser specific hack to trick the browser somehow into showing the pano on the full screen.

With iOS 15 the Safari behavior related to scrolling into 'fullscreen mode' unfortunately has been changed once more again, but I have already found new working solution and I'm already on preparing a new release for this.

As temporary workaround that iPhone fullscreen behavior could be disabled by setting the display.iphonefullscreen variable to -1.

About the inline layer videos - that's new (and unexpected) for me too, I will check it now.

Best regards,
Klaus

Thanks a ton, Klaus! Looking forward to your new workarounds *g*
It´s so annoying, that Apple won´t allow real FS-Mode on iDevices *thumbdown*

Hi,

about the inline videos - that's a core iOS bug somehow related to CSS3D transforms and GPU accelerated rendering, but a workaround is possible. With the next krpano release this will work again.

Best regards,
Klaus

Hi,

Yes apple made a mess again..
Sigh..
Also the black squares when changing from pano to 3d (or so) are on iphone now..used to be only on mac.. where safari seems to be useless for a while already..

So.. all we have done in the past needs to be changed/updated again or it will be quite useless, or at least sloppy and semi-functional on any mac device..

Tuur *cry*

I assume you mean the problem with combining post-processing or webvr usage with depthmap panos - in this case the new iOS 15 and also the Mac Safari have a bug with the WebGL internal depthbuffer accuracy - but the next krpano release will contain also a workaround for this case.

Klaus

Hi,
Yes that effect.. but i see it also when not in webvr and when blur effect is not active..
I'll take blur out to see if it still occurs..

Good to hear you have a workaround coming!
But strange to see it was good in ios14

Hi Klaus,

another strange behavior in iOS15 in portrait-mode: When swiping up (looking down in the pano), a big black bar appears on the bottom. If this bar is clicked, the bar disappears and the Safari-Bar reappears and so on....

Hi Nupsi,

long time now see!

i changed in safari settings the url bar to the bottom..
That is annoying but seems to make it better for functionality.
But there are also some options you could try.. i didn't yet.
maybe one of these(?)

Hey Tuur,

yeah...I did a lot of VR stuff for exhibition stands and with the rise of Corona I changed my focus even more towards 3D-Design and VR-Apps. I hope you´re doing great as well with all the madness going on in the world? *smile*
(@All: Sorry for OT ;-) )

@TOPIC
Thx for your tips, but neither of them worked *sad* For sure I could easely change my settings for Safari, but it´s a tour for a customer, so there is no other way than fixing the problem somehow. I thought it´s the stage-mode I use for this tour, but it does´nt make any difference either *unsure*

LG,
Nupsi

Hi,

I think the url-bar at the bottom is new default in iOS 15 and there this doesn't happen, so normally the users shouldn't need to change anything if they don't want that black at the bottom. And on iPhones with a notch this isn't even very noticeable because of the whole black front.

Technically this is a special Safari behavior, it is not caused by the website or by krpano and I'm not sure if there is a way to avoid this. Anyway I will have a lock for some hacks of course...

Btw - but at least the krpano viewer keeps its size after the first swipe-up and doesn't resize constantly again with every up/down swipe like a few other pano viewers... *whistling* ;-)

Best regards,
Klaus

Is this problem also for Youtube videos? I am currently working on a new tour with a lot of videos and if Youtube videos will work I will prefer that.Haven not updated to IOS 15 yet.

Hi,

that problem is already fixed with the latest krpano version.
Beside of that it doesn't related to Youtube or other external/iframe content.

Best regards,
Klaus
