View model in VR

Hi all,

Weekend, so some time to explore new krpano features.
Even though this feature is not really new (web vr has been around for some time), I have not seen an implementation where you can view and explore a 3D model in VR space (if you have an example, do link below). So i took my orbitcontrol demo and converted it to a basic VR object viewer.

Demo here - VR headset recommended.

I have only tested it with a Quest 2.
If all works well, your controller joysticks should be able to rotate (right controller) and move (left controller). Anybody up for some testing?

Would love to hear if this is something of interest.

ps: to go to the url, best is to open krpano website/forum, then find this topic and then click the link. Anybody has any better suggestion to easily transfer a URL to the quest browser?

gr,
Kristof

For those interested. No, I'm not sitting day in day out with a headset on when exploring a feature like this *g*
To develop for VR, I use a browser extention that allows to simulate a real device, which is a lot better than using the emulation of krpano.

Extention here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detai…ggfhfolhkfbhmik

Example screenshot of how it looks in the browser:

Thought it could be interesting for others that also want to use WebVR in their projects.

With MetaDevHub its possible to send a link directly to the Meta Browser, on mobile phones with the Meta Quest App

(if logged in to the metaaccount it should also possible to send the link to the headset via #

Thanks for the addition, works perfectly. Easy sharing!

in the meantime, I also found out that if you have the oculus app installed on your mobile device, you can go to any URL using any browser on your mobile, and then use the browser "share" function and send it to the mobile app, which in turn can be used to open it on your VR device.

Also noticed that if I put down thte controllers in the example, the screen turns black - this is probably a javascript error causing rendering to stop so I will have to dig deeper to make it stable (if there is any interest in it).

I just tried it on the HP Reverb 2. Looks nice and can be rotated using the thumbstick. Are the pointer beam things coming from the controllers part of krpano or is that your design. I guess the ultimate would be to be able rotate using the beam as that's how it works with everything else.

Good stuff though *thumbsup*

Hey Andrew22222,

Thanks for the feedback and nice to know the demo also work on some more non-oculus devices!

The beams are the default ones from krpano webvr plugin.

Is it possible (in future) to load models?
fbx, glb, etc?
I like to check my sketchfab models in this goood quality :)

For now, you need to convert glb models from Sketchfab to obj as this is the only format supported by krpano. You can use this tutorial if you don't know how:https://krpano.com/forum/wbb/index.php?p…89973#post89973

I uploaded the VR viewer project so you can play with it on your local system and replace the model if you would like to *tongue*

And I'm also curious about your models *cool*

We all were beginners at some point. The best way to improve is to keep practicing! Thanks for sharing. *thumbsup*
