I'm making a number of virtual tours at
the moment. I've used the gigapan epic 100 and stitched the
images with the gigapan software. I've then exported the images
as a tiff and used "MAKE PANO (MULTIRES) droplet" to brake
up the image again to use within the viewer. I am happy with
the results I'm getting but I'm wondering if this is the correct way
of doing it.
I read in some old posts that there would be
support for gigapan in a release that we have now gone past. Is
this support the way I am doing it or is there another way.
i.e. can the output tile files from the gigapan stitcher be used
instead?
The stitcher or uploader ( uploader code is integrated w/ stitcher ) generates an image pyramid locally that you could use, but I would prefer to use the pyramid using the krpano tools. An exception would be when the file is very large and a .psb or an Adobe RAW file would be required. Then you could use export to zoomify in Photoshop which also generates an image pyramid.
