Pano wont load in subfolder

Hi,

i got a website where I got the html and panos in the same root folder and that works fine. now I want to keep the html file in the root folderand store all the pano stuff in a subfolder called pano. So i've copied all pano files to the subfolder called "pano" then I've changed the embed code so everything is loaded from pano/ and now it doesn't work any more!

embed code:

error:

Looks like the .swf file is loaded fine from the subfolder, else I wouldn't get the error message.. but why can't it find the .xml file?

Hope someone can help me out.

/Thomas

Just taking a guess here. Try Removing the pano/ in front of the XML file in your HTML.

Thanks for your reply. I already tried that and unfortunately it didn't make a difference.

Hi,

It seems a path issue... Can you access your xml file directly from the URL ?

http://YourDomain.com/PathToYourHtml/pano/pano_0021_protect.xml

SAlut.

Full path gives me the exact same error.

What I believe Michel meant was: When you type the entire path to your XML in your URL window of your browser, does it show the entire XML file? Or perhaps it did not copy the file entirely???

Did you remove all of your files from the old folder except for the HTML file?
Have you cleared your cache before each test just to be sure the browser wasn't using a "filed" file??

Ahh, misunderstood it. The xml file loads when I type in the full path.

And all files are removed from the root except the html file. I didn't try clearing the cache as there is stuff in there I need. But I did try uploading it to my webhost (instead of running from my local server) and that gave me the same error. so can't be a cache issue.

Just uploaded two tests to my server, the first one works and the second in subdirs doesn't.

http://hdri-locations.com/panotest/pano.htm
http://hdri-locations.com/panotest_subdir/pano_subdirs.htm

And I've enabled file listing so http://hdri-locations.com/panotest/ and http://hdri-locations.com/panotest_subdir/ will show all the files and the structure.

Really hope someone could find the probably small stupid error.

Hi,

I am got crazy *cursing* *angry* ...
Make sure you do not have selected the Disable External Parameters (HTTP,FlashVars) option inside Kprotect *attention* *attention* *attention*

SAlut ;-) ...

I took a tour of mine, (not protected) and pulled an html file outside of that folder. Made the same changes that you did and it works fine.

Uhhh... michel I think you might be on to something, tried protecting the file again and now it finds the xml file.. BUT..

Now it doesn't find the panorama image itself, it's embedded as "pano.jpg" but krpano now gives this error:

ERROR: download of "pano/pano.jpg"failed

And I can't see anyway to add the path to the file in krprotect *wacko*

Fixed that.. added "../" in the xml file.

Thanks a lot Michel for pin-pointing the error.. unfortunately I have to go trough all my panos and protect them again without that setting *cry*

Hi,

yes, michel is right!
the external parameters (like setting the path to a other xml) are disabled by default for embedded xml files,

about the path problems - try also using the latest krpano version,
in your screenshot you are using the 1.0.8 beta 8, which is quite old, and it has some path bugs (especially with embedded files),

Zitat

unfortunately I have to go trough all my panos and protect them again without that setting
instead of embedding you could also encrypt the external files,
this would allow using one global protected .swf file for all panos,

best regards,
Klaus

I've updated to 1.0.8.11 and testing with encrypted files instead of embedding them. but I get this error: ERROR decoding of "pano.jpg" failed

Do I have to do something special to decode the files?

I tried searching for documentation on using krprotect and how to use encryoted files, but I didn't find anything.

Did you protect a new .swf and upload it? Did the server properly save the uploaded .swf?

Thanks Jarredja, I protected the .swf file and now it works.

But are there really no documentation on all of this? it's really hard to guess how to do all this stuff. Krpano is really powerful but the learning curve sure is steep.
